General
This Privacy Policy explains how Omnisciento LLC (“Omnisciento,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Cadmus mobile application, website, or related services (the “Service”).
Omnisciento LLC is the controller of personal information processed through the Service. Our contact details appear at the end of this Policy.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create or use a Cadmus account, we may collect your email address, account identifier, optional display name, and account settings.
A service provider supports registration, sign-in, email verification, password recovery, and session management. We do not store your account password in our application database.
Content and learning activity
We collect the content and learning activity needed to provide the Service. This may include searches, saved words, collections, learning progress, notes, practice activity, feedback, support messages, and collection-cover images you choose to upload.
If you use Cadmus without signing in, we create an opaque guest-session identifier to apply guest features and protect the Service from misuse. The guest credential expires after 90 days.
Device and service information
We and our service providers may process technical and usage information, such as IP address, device and operating-system details, app version, technical identifiers, diagnostic data, and feature use. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
We use service providers for limited product analytics, performance measurement, and crash diagnosis. We do not use these services for advertising or to sell personal information.
Information stored on your device
Cadmus stores information on your device to provide requested features and protect your account. This can include credentials in the iOS Keychain and protected, bounded caches of recently shown content, artwork, and collection-cover images. Account-specific caches are cleared when you sign out or delete your account.
Information from other sources
We may receive account and sign-in information from authentication providers and subscription transaction and entitlement information from the app-platform provider. We do not receive your complete payment-card details.
How we process information
Providing and improving the Service
We use account, content, and learning information to create and manage accounts; provide search, saved-word, collection, practice, sharing, and subscription features; synchronize your account data; and tailor the Service to your learning activity. We also use searches, feedback, and feature use to improve dictionary coverage, content quality, and the Service.
Communicating with you
We use contact and account information to respond to support requests, verify and recover accounts, send service and legal notices, and administer subscriptions. Cadmus does not currently use personal information for direct marketing.
Analytics and diagnostics
We use analytics and diagnostic services to understand how the Service performs, diagnose crashes and errors, measure feature use, and improve reliability. These services do not receive raw search terms, notes, support messages, access tokens, or passwords.
Security, fraud prevention, and legal obligations
We use information to protect accounts and infrastructure, prevent misuse and fraud, enforce our terms, comply with law, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information with service providers that process it on our behalf, including providers of:
- Cloud hosting, storage, content delivery, authentication, and security infrastructure.
- Product analytics, performance measurement, and crash diagnosis.
- App distribution, account sign-in, subscription processing, and support-message delivery, as applicable.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or security issues, or support a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.
Public word-share links
When you choose to share a word, Cadmus creates a link scoped to the selected word and sense and renders a share image on your device. Anyone who receives the image or link may redistribute it. The link opens the selected sense in Cadmus when the app is installed and otherwise redirects to the App Store; it does not expose your account profile or private library. Share links expire automatically.
Links to other services
The Service may link to websites or services that we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices, not this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review those notices before providing personal information to another service.
Data retention, choices, and deletion
Our current retention periods and criteria are:
- Account information, collections, notes, learning progress, support messages, and content feedback are retained while needed to provide and support your account and are deleted when account deletion completes, unless law, security, or an active dispute requires limited retention.
- Recent-search history is retained for up to 365 days, and zero-result search queries are retained for up to 90 days.
- Word-share records are deleted within 30 days after their links expire or are revoked.
- API, web-server, and system operational logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting, according to our configured operational schedules.
- Subscription and transaction records are retained while needed to administer entitlements, comply with financial or legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent fraud.
- Analytics and diagnostic information is retained under the default settings and retention controls applied by our service providers and is deleted or de-identified when no longer needed.
Account deletion removes Cadmus account data, user-uploaded collection-cover media, and the associated authentication identity. If an external cleanup step is interrupted, a limited retry record is retained until cleanup completes and prevents the account from being recreated during that process. Backup copies age out under our configured disaster-recovery schedule and are not used to restore a deleted account except where necessary for security, legal, or disaster-recovery purposes.
You can update your display name and request account deletion in the Cadmus app’s Profile settings. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a decision about a privacy request. To make a request or appeal, email us at support@cadmusapp.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We process personal information to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, protect the Service and users, and, where required by law, with your consent.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right provided by applicable law. Information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably identify you is not treated as personal information unless we combine it with other information that identifies you.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including HTTPS, authenticated access tokens, and protected backend infrastructure. No system is completely secure.
Children
Cadmus is intended for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Policy updates and contact
We may update this Policy as the Service or applicable law changes. Material changes will be communicated through the Service, by email, or by another lawful method. The updated Policy will show its effective date.
